As a witness and have experienced the situation of SPLA/M, I can
encourage you to go forward to present your case to the human right
organization as the voice of democracy so that the world may know
our problem with SPLA/M.
Since 1983, when Dr. John founded SPLA/M, in Ethiopia, SPLA has
employed a system of ruling civilians with very dictatorship manners
unlike to “Anya Nya One” and “Anya Nya two”. They began their
administration by harming the innocents, destruction of the houses,
raped girls, and women, looting cattle, burning up huts, recruiting
of teenagers, and displacing of villages. Brutal treatment is the
main tactic for SPLA to liberate areas. SPLA collect all the teens
of Nuer in Ethiopia by force to joint SPLA’s military training.
However, they were not Sudanese by laws, though; they were Nuer in
nature (culture).
For example, in the year 1985, SPLA launched a huge troop toward
the following areas, such districts are: Dorong, Badhiel, Kurthony,
Teluth, Dualjiok, Ngor, Nguanhok, Matduerkoang, Tandar, Bulimkun,
Nipnip, and Mangok. All these areas are under the administration of
Ethiopian government, they are not accountable to Sudan government.
Because, they are Nuers in culture, SPLA accused them of Mr. Gai
Tut, SPLA said that people are loyal to Cdr. Gai Tut and Cdr. Koang
Chol, therefore, they destroyed these villages for, they thought
that they have some connection secretly with Anya Nya 2, while they
have already destroyed Bilpam and chased Anya Nya 2 away back to
Sudan, approximately, a distance of five hundred kilo meters away
from the areas burned up in Gambella Ethiopia.
Cdr. Kiir Mayardit was the chief security, who overviewed the
war; Cdr Kerbino Kuanyin Bol was the deputy C in C, Cdr. Wiliam
Nyuon, was the Chief of Staff, Cdr Dr. Machar was the member of High
commander. These commanders were the responsible and overseers of
the war in Bargeer, they were standing on the river bank of Makuach
Luthchior (Bharelsalem). By the end of February and the beginning of
March, 1985, SPLA destroyed all the villages with their bitterness
heart due to the fear of Cdr. Koang Chol and Cdr. Chuol Deng.
However, Gajaak the people of these villages fought them very
seriously and sent them back to Bilpam, 80% of the SPLA’s troop was
killed. The civilians took their guns with them, and left their
bodies to birds and animals.
As a result of the war, my father “Kuon Yuot”, an old man of 90
years died due to the news he had heard that all the seniors of
Mathiang dead in the forest because of thirty in Lare. Those who
died in war were not recorded officially, because SPLA and the
government of Ethiopia did not allow journalist to investigate the
community in order to find the exactly numbers of people including
children who had died in the same day. While people were running
from Mangok to Wuret, they buried my father beside the river bank of
his field under the traditional tree of his. SPLA ruined all places
at Jikow in different dates and years; many seniors and disabilities
(handicapped) were lost during the war due to their inability to
escape the war. Other places which they called liberated areas were
defiled by themselves. They demolished their own people instead of
the enemy which they used to talk about.
Dictator Mangistu Hailee Marian, the Ethiopian
president, trained SPLA to disobey human rights. Democracy was
sounding like a hallucination to their minds until today. Policy is
not an easy disease. It functions as a dread disease caught up
people for twenty years; and it needs some kind of medicine to be
treated within a period of twenty years too. Otherwise, it will
cause a very high effect against the body of the patience, i.e.
vomiting, dizziness, and stomach-age.
Moreover, many destructives actions were taken by SPLA against
civilians of the South Sudan, regardless to their status or tribes:
such a terrible movement does not respect any group of people,
either Nuer or Dinka or any tribe in the South Sudan. They were
acting like an enemy to any community in the country. SPLA did not
care to use any kind of weapons to perform devastation against
humanity; they even destroyed Bor community, the people from which
Dr. John Garang was born, Bintiw where Dr. Riek Machar born, Panjak,
where the chief of staff Cdr William Nyuon born. SPLA depends on
denying the truth; they have drunk of Communist dictatorship policy.
They used to kill people and deny it. Amazingly, all the incidents
took place upon the innocents by SPLA were not recorded, except, the
incident that occurred in Bor city. Norwegian Church Aids took the
pictures of those people which were dead. They captured photos
because they supplied the area with food and clothes. Many
areas were blocked toward journalist, for the dictatorship does not
allow journalist to visit places where SPLA has spoiled.
In the month of March, 2011, SPLA did the same thing to civil
society. After Gen. George Athor’s soldiers attacked the civilians
in Panjak in Jonglei and killed them. Immediately, after the
incident, President Kiir Mayardit and his all cabinets made a
decision to fight Gen. Athor, unfortunately, they destroy all Dinka
Ngok Community in Khor-fuluth, instead of rebels. They burned up two
villages completely due to their suspect of supporting Gen. Athor
Deng. SPLA, instead to fight with soldiers and save the innocents
from Athor’s threats, they corrupt everything they find in Dinka
community too. We know that civilians cannot overthrow the military
group by force, it is impossible for Ngok to chase George Athor away
from their land whether they like or not. SPLA should fight with
rebel and protect the civil society, yet, they used to destroy the
community before they fight enemy. This is the sign that they fear
of their rebels.
Similarly, Unity Sate civil society cannot move Gen, Gatdeet away
from their area because it is too hard for them to do. SPLA, because
of their intimidation of Gen. Gatdeet’s arm forces, they ruined
everything they saw around them. They slew people intentionally, e.g
they smote cattle, and burned up houses due to their suspect of
knowing what Gen. Gatdeet is doing. Yet, SPLA is wrong because
civilians did not support Gatdeet because he is the Nuer nor they
like what he has done, but they were compelled to join military by
force. SPLA should know this people very well, because these rebels
broke out of them. They used what they have learned from their
masters.
Today, many people thought that SPLA is changed from the behavioural
dictatorship of 1983, which they learned from the former Russian
Communism (Manifesto I & II). But, they are still managing their
government in the same previous way. They put their trust into
dictatorship; it is easy for them to rule with authoritarians
instead of democracy.
So, sisters and brothers, you are right to bring up your appeal to
the international communities. I think there might be some changes
when the world sees it, and they will take a serious scrutiny on the
administration of what so called SPLA/M, the one Party system
government of South Sudan.
I am believe that SPLA
has destroyed all these 8000 houses of this Nuer community in Unity
State for, they used to fired house wherever they fight with South
Sudanese, I think they are too violence to rule over us, yet, they
are ruled by force. They governed us with their own will. Gen.
Gadeet cannot kill the civilians because he did not defect from the
civilians.
The voice of democracy!
